The grandiose paintings of Ontarian landscapes delight museums across the world. Their painter, Tom Thomson, emblematic figure of the Group of Seven—a highly regarded Canadian art movement—is found dead by a child at the age of 39. His death raises a lot of unanswered questions.
20 years later, the child who discovered his dead body has become a woman hell-bent on investigating his death, a death that still haunts her. She sets off across the wild and harsh Canadian land, following in the footsteps of the painter.
