After a fight with her mother, Julie Wallon leaves France to seek refuge in Japan, where her father lives. Julie barely knows Jean-Raymond Wallon; he and her mother separated more than ten years ago, and Jean-Raymond departed to lose himself among the crowds in the Land of the Rising Sun. Julie only knows him through photographs and telephone conversations. Therefore, she arrives in Tokyo full of naïve, idealistic notions : all she knows about this island country is what she’s read in manga comics and seen on TV. Once she’s managed to reestablish contact with her father – which itself turns out to be more difficult than she’d thought – Julie’s first major challenge will be to learn the language…
