Jugurtha, the illegitimate son of Prince Mastanabal, is raised at the court of his uncle Micipsa, the king of Numidia. His two cousins, Hiempsal and Adherbal, are deeply jealous of the handsome and much-loved young man. When the will of their late father names Jugurtha as one of the joint heirs to the throne, alongside his cousins, they decide to end his life.
