Rock Derby first appeared in 1960 in the pages of the Tintin journal. These are the adventures of a retired boxer who’s now a garage owner, who spends his time taking on crooks with his brother Skip and journalist, Tim Toronto. These first panels give us the chance to observe the blooming of Greg’s trademark style and his development into a ‘complete’ author. As each frame goes by, the rythm becomes more fluid and the illustration more efficient. All these years later, the enchanting humor of this ‘all-American hero’ hasn’t lost its edge.
