Born on July 6, 1977, Roger Ibáñez Ugena studied comic book writing at the Joso School. In 1993 he created several short humorous comics (written by A. García) for the fanzine GN. In 1994 he won the first manga contest organized by the publisher Norma, who published several of his short stories in their manga magazine “Otaku” (written by R. González). For the publisher Cameleon, he went on to draw for the series “Sukebe” (written by N. Peris) as well as “Hiromi” (written by A. García). From 1999 to 2001 he created 14 comics (all written by his frequent partner Raule) in the “Penthouse Comix” magazine (published by El Jueves). Under the pseudonym Nono he also created various American comics for erotic magazines, including “Sizzle” (NBM). In 2002 and 2003, with Raule again in charge of the script, he published “Hole’n’Virgin,” “Amores muertos,” and “Cabos sueltos” (Amaníaco). This last publication was presented at the Barcelona International Comic Fair, and the achievement pushed his co-creator, author Jean-David Morvan (“Al’Togo,” “Reality Show”) to submit the work to Dargaud. At the Angouleme International Comics Festival in 2004 Roger then presented his own project to Dargaud, “Jazz Maynard,” in tandem with Raule. Thus began a thrilling trilogy that soon morphed into a long-running saga, with volume six being published in French in October 2017.
